Air Fittings and Connectors
Imagine you’re at your workbench and you start to hear a slight hissing noise. Since you probably hear many such sounds, you treat it as a minor annoyance and continue working. You may not realize, however, that this sound indicates a loss of pressure, which in turn hurts your air circuit.
No matter how minor the loss might be, it reduces efficiency and even can lead to a dangerous situation. Quality air fittings and connectors can greatly reduce the risk of this happening. If you haven’t checked the fittings used in your workshop lately, then we invite you to take a few minutes to do just that.
Consider replacing any damaged or worn components with new pieces from SMC Pneumatics. Each of our connectors is always designed with compatibility in mind, so redoing even complex compressed air-driven systems should be relatively easy.
New KQ2 Fittings
Each of these fittings come in two different styles, designed to meet the diverse market needs of different kinds of businesses. North American KQ2 fittings feature customary inch-based measurements while metric ones are demarcated in SI units.
Regardless of which style you pick, this new series will prove far more compact and even a little lighter than the older KQ2 and original KJ style fittings. The release collar allows you to easily remove the tubing without actually harming it.
You’ll be able to use them with all of the follow types of tubes as well:
- FEP
- PFA
- Nylon
- Soft Nylon
- PU
They’re compatible with a fairly wide range of pressures, so you shouldn’t have any difficulty integrating them with the equipment that you currently have at your workshop.
One-Touch Instant Fittings
Properly screwing air fittings into place can take up valuable time, and it can eventually wear the connectors out. This is especially problematic for small business owners who have to move all their compressed air-driven tools between different job sites.
Our one-touch instant fittings can solve that problem. They click together easily. Very little force is needed to get them to join, as the name suggests. Convenience isn’t the only reason for this design, however. It’s made so that you don’t have to worry about applying so much force that you end up bending the tube.
While you might think that this would make them incapable of handling heavy loads, they can tackle any job from vacuum up to 145 PSI. One-touch instant fittings accept a wide array of tubing types and their release collar allows you to easily take the tubing out without causing it any damage.
Have you ever been in a tight situation where you don’t have much room to maneuver? The stud on these fittings is designed to allow some rotation of the body, which gives you the freedom to install them even in confined spaces.
Metric One-Touch Instant Fittings
Manufacturing is increasingly moving to a global environment, and that’s translated into an increased demand for components that feature SI units. Metric one-touch fittings offer all of the capabilities of standard ones with the added advantage of coming in standard metric sizes.
Like those featuring customary measures, you’ll be able to find all of the following form factors in metric:
- Male & Female Connectors
- Branch Tees
- Run Tees
- Straight Unions
- Bulkhead Unions
- Union Tees
- Plugs
- Unions Ys
- Reducers
- Reducer Elbows
Stainless Steel Fittings
Perhaps you do work in a corrosive environment or are particularly concerned about degradation of your connectors. Stainless steel fittings are perfect in these sorts of circumstances. Their extra weight and density can hold up to a fair amount of abuse, which has made them attractive to those in heavy manufacturing for quite some time.
As the name suggests, they’re designed to be as resistant to oxidization as possible. Everything eventually has a breaking point, but stainless steel is an alloy that has long been known in the industry for its ability to reduce the risk of significant damage due to these sources. It’s also easy to clean, which is why it’s so common in commercial kitchens and fine cutlery.
Due to this unique construction, stainless steel fittings offer a pressure range of -14½-145 PSI and a proof pressure of 435 PSI. They even feature a huge ambient and fluid temperature range of 23-302°F, which provides a fairly dramatic representation of just how durable this material really is.
In spite of the difference in materials, however, you’ll still be able to find all of the same size fittings you need if you prefer to use only stainless steel.
Miniature Fittings
Not all installations call for full-sized equipment. Mini air fittings and connectors include all of the following options:
- Miniature Barb Fittings
- Miniature Barb One-Touch Instant Fittings
- Miniature Barb Elbows
- Miniature Reducer Fittings
This ample selection should provide more than enough choices to make any miniature installation every bit as feature rich as a full-sized one.
