SMC Pneumatics USA Looks At Students, STEM and MakeMIT

MakeMIT Competition Helps STEMIf you want to build rockets, robots and develop scientific advancements, you have the mind our world needs. Without these engineer and scientific minds, we wouldn’t have evolved our technology and how we live life today. That’s why it’s important to look at STEM-based studies early and use them to give you an edge in college and into your career field.

What are some events and options for learning more about STEM programs and what it will do for you? Let’s take a look and see.

MakeMIT

Do you like to hack away and build prototypes of gizmos, gadgets and whatchamacallits? If so, MakeMIT might be right up your alley.

Taking place February 28th, 2015 in the Stratton Student Center, on the MIT campus, MakeMIT gives you the opportunity to compete with like-minded engineer types and show off your hacking ability. From design to creation, the event lets you build out what you want, with STEM-based principles in mind.

This event helps undergraduate students create useful technology and prototypes, with an even bigger chance to earn recognition and some money in the process.

MakeMIT Helps STEM

For many students, college and a career path are not always at the top of their priority list. However, those who pursue STEM-based activities at a younger age have more of a chance to attend college and pursue careers as technologists, engineers or scientists.

Of those who go down the path for STEM and move into college will enjoy events like MakeIT. It encourages them to expand their thinking by creating ideas and projects, while competing for some cash and possibly earning extended recognition, which is always a good thing for your future career path.

STEM for the Future

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, STEM jobs will grow 55 percent faster than non-STEM jobs over the next 10 years. That’s saying a lot for students who will begin to fill the job space and need to choose a career. That’s why it’s important to encourage them to look at STEM-based curriculum now to gain a high-paying jobs, while helping our economy and closing the gap between the jobs and companies trying to find qualified workers.
